Detailed post --- This question gets asked all the time. One way to get clarity is to search on Google for a keyword you want to rank for. Look at the number that pops up saying how many results were found. Most times you're competing against hundreds of thousands and even millions of sites. Another thing to take into consideration is the idea that price is what you pay and value is what you get. So more important than price is value. If you're a personal injury lawyer in nyc, for example, you're competing against hundreds of other law firms. So by being ranked above all of them, you're beating out your competition, which is obviously very valuable. There was a very interesting article I read when I searched "how much should I pay for SEO" that says you should avoid any SEO agency who has prices lower than $750 month and that most people pay between $750 a month to $5,000 a month or more for quality SEO. For example we're on page 2 for "nyc seo experts" when we get to page 1 we can get 3-5 new clients every month which is at least $10,000 a month of new revenue. So that's very valuable and worth 2-3 grand for that business building asset.
